Michael Ferreira wins the Indian Billiards title, defeating Subash Agarwal. Ferreira made the following breaks in the tournament: 1149, 995, 611,666, 530, 563, 547, 519, 487, 457, 429, and 418, all under the five pot rule. He had a 3327 four hour aggregate compared to Bob Marshall who had a 3391 average in 1959, under the two pot rule.

Ferreira’s break performance, notwithstanding being done under a 5 pot rule must rank as the most outstanding performance in Billiards history other than the exploits of WL and others in the 1930’s Even the great ND never approached such heights.

Dagley wins an 8 man Invitation Tournament defeating Herbert Beetham by 558 to 310

The United Kingdom Professional Billiards Championship sponsored by Super Crystalate was won by Rex Williams defeating John Barrie in the final by 2952 to 2116.

The field comprised of Jack Karnehm, Steve Davis, Herbert Beetham, John Barrie, John Dunning, Bernard Bennet, Ray Edmonds and Rex Williams. John Barrie had two 400+ breaks and Rex Williams had a 300+. The tournament was promoted by Jim Williamson at the Northern Centre, Leeds.

Norman Dagley wins his 10th. Eng. Am Title defeating Ken Shirley by 3311 to 1549. Dagley made three 300+ breaks in the final.
It is noted as well that Joe Johnson put up a creditable performance in losing to Mark Wildman by 989 to 1552, with a 100+ break thrown in.

In a round robin tournament in Bombay Michael Ferreira came out on top on aggregate points in a field that included Lafir, Karnehm, Barrie, Dagley and Ferreira. As ever the breaks were good: Ferreira two 200+, Dagley one 300+ and two 200+, Lafir one 200+, Barrie two 300+ and two 200+, and Karnehm one 200+

Jimmy White wins the Eng. AM Snooker at age of 17. And Alex Higgins makes a break of 122 in two minutes 45 seconds. Faster than Ronnie? On a pro rata basis is this faster than Ronnie’s famous maximum?

Dagley retains his CIU title defeating Bob Close by 1075 to 688. High break 209 by Dagley.

In a Canadian tournament, Snooker and Billiards, Joe Johnson defeated Ian Williamson by 500 to 284 in the billiards event, while Raymond Ceulemans of Belgium won the World Three Cushion title for the 16th.time.
